This course focuses on the use of visual supports, such as signs, aided language communication displays and caregiver-created materials to increase the ability of communication partners to support those who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication and AAC users themselves in growing their skills. Finally, it will explain how video models for AAC are such an effective tool for building language skills, especially for learners with Angelman Syndrome, and then teaches how to create video models. Resources include access to numerous examples of video models.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Participants will be able to discuss the importance of visual models such as core boards, aided language displays, and descriptive labels for teaching language.
2. Participants will be able to discuss the benefits of video models and how they can be particularly effective for people with Angelman Syndrome.
3. Participants will learn multiple practical and effective strategies to create and incorporate visual and video models in the home and classroom.
