Brought To You By:

I have achieved in life what I could not have even dreamed about.

Creativity, determination, and a big dose of adventure are some of the traits that have allowed me to found and own two highly admired businesses in the special education space from the ground up: Smarty Ears and Smarty Symbols. I am, and will always be a Speech-Language-Pathologist. Despite having step up from helping children on a one-on-one basis, today I am proud to have started and pushed my profession to new heights with the creation of my apps. Since I founded Smarty Ears in 2009, I have designed and developed over award-winning 60 iOS apps. Smarty Ears apps have revolutionized an entire field in the last ten years. They have been translated into seven languages and sold in over 40 countries. The learning curve was steep, but it guided to the creation of my second venture in the space: Smarty Symbols. Smarty Symbols is the evolution in picture representation for communication and learning. What started as a fresh start for the symbol library industry with a collection of 22,000 images, today is the idea platform for supporting special educators to create classroom resources using the Smarty Symbols web-based tools. Promoting access to an incredible experience in the learning process for individuals with special needs would fall short if I had not supported all this with teaching others the magic of tech in education. I have presented around the world and helped many professionals take their game to the next level. What an incredible story to tell on a LinkedIn Bio. Cheer y’al!

 Thanks Barbara for joining us!
