Today’s guest is Melissa Van Wijk, a special education teacher who envisioned and created a a New York based nonprofit, Born Dancing, that creates dance education programs for students with disabilities.
Her unwavering commitment and hard-earned success is recognized nationwide and featured in O, The Oprah Magazine, November, 2018 issue.
In addition to dance performance and production experiences, she has expanded to offering real job opportunities through internships in performing arts production.
In this episode, she shares her journey from dancing, to teaching, to founder and Executive Director of a successful non-profit organization. She discusses the importance of insurance, constant learning outside of your comfort zone, and keeping on top of your business.
