Have you heard about social groups like “Out & About” and have always wanted to know how to get started? This course will walk you through each step to bring your idea into reality. During this course, participants will have an opportunity to reflect with others on roles and responsibilities to design an event, connect individuals within their communities, be inspired by engaging activities that showcase and celebrate multiple forms of communication.
- Formulate a six-step plan for creating their first social group event.
- Define at least 4 roles/tasks to be assigned to various members of the group.
- List at least 4 activities that do not require a specific location for the event to take place.
- Compare and contrast 2-4 benefits from an example in-person and virtual event.

Brandi is a member of ISAAC and voluntarily consults with various AAC vendors on product improvement and increasing reach to consumers. Members of our O&A group use AAC devices mentioned by name in our session. The group continues to use a logo designed with input from PRC-Saltillo on our flyers and t-shirts from Bonfire. Any money made from t-shirt sales on Bonfire will eventually be used for O&A member admission to events and/or materials fees.
